Fall Alert Your Guide to Medical Alerts

Having a fall alert in a rural area

by admin on September 2, 2011

Living in a rural area can be a great reason to consider getting a fall alert system for your home. You may go a day or two sometimes without even seeing one of your neighbors – in the case of an emergency its smart to have a way to get the help that you need.

These fall alerts or medical alert systems usually come from a national company that is able to service the entire United States. The only requirements for a fall alert are that you have a home telephone and that your area has EMS dispatch or an equivalent service. Even the most rural areas have a paramedic service (even if it is 100% run by volunteers). One thing to consider is the range of a system. Since you live in the country you may have a good amount of land. These systems tend to work well up to around 400 feet away from the medical alert systems speaker box. When you get your system, test the range and get a good idea for where you are covered and what areas of your land you aren’t.
