Fall Alert Your Guide to Medical Alerts

Wear your medical alert button at all times

by admin on September 29, 2011

Falls can happen at anytime… a lot of falls happen in the middle of the night. Sometimes a senior’s legs may be a little weak when they first wake up, and moving too suddenly to go to the restroom can lead to a fall. That’s why it’s important to wear your medical alert button even while you sleep. It’s easy to forget to put the button back on after changing – but try to make a habit of it. It’s for your safety! Most medical alert necklaces and wristbands are designed to be waterproof. They should be worn in the shower or tub, not just placed nearby. If you have a fall in the shower there is no guarantee that you will be able to reach that necklace where ever you left it.

Falls as a rule happen when you least expect them. If you expected it, you wouldn’t fall. So wear your medical alert at all times. It’s hard at first, but once it’s a habit it’ll be very easy for you. It’s just the smart thing to do…
